Jhene Jhene Jhene! How many times do I have to say that I love this album? Lemme tell ya'll something, Jhene's music is therapy for me, and it can be for you too. This album is pure poetry, rhythm, vibes, honesty, and love. It opens with "Limbo Limbo Limbo", an airy, trippy track that reminds you that "your whole life is on a ride." I really like that she opened the album with this because she is reassuring herself and the listener that we are all human and to embrace the journey our lives take us on. Throughout her music, Jhene embraces topics surrounding imperfect love and relationships, being a mother, strength, perseverance, and the many emotions people feel in this thing called life. It's inspirational and even though the production is slow, sultry, and calming, it's definitely a "pick me up" album. Souled Out is deeply personal, and she does not shy away from being her authentic self which is what her fans love her for. The biggest aspect I take away from this project is how much I relate to it; she's brutally honest about how she struggles to keep up in romance. Just listen to her tracks "Spotless Mind", "Brave", and "The Pressure". She also acknowledges that she won't allow anyone to fault her because she already knows her flaws. Another interesting part of this project is "Blue Dream", a song expressing her love for a strain for weed. If you just want to ride out at night, do homework, sleep peacefully, or even cry your eyes out but feel hopeful at the same time, just throw on this album! Let her soft, angelic vocals embrace your ears and heart. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.
